This Year’s Schedule

Treasure Hunting in the Wilds of Manito Park

August 17th 2024
10:00 AM -11:30 AM
Manito Park

Start and End at the Park Bench (adults encouraged to wait here so children rely on each other for problem-solving skills)

Discover the secrets of Manito Park's back trails and hidden mysteries. What clues does the park's history hold? Can your intrepid team of explorers unlock the secrets and complete the map to find buried treasure?

Due to the teamwork, walking, and problem solving this event is for kids aged 7-11. Guides are local park experts Sally (former elementary teacher/counselor) and Tim Quirk (attorney, but his favorite job is granddad).

The Amazing World of Worms!

July 13th, 2024
10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
South Hill Spokane Public Library

Mark Cuilla is a Spokane County Master Composter/Recycler and worm enthusiast. He will share everything you want to know about worms and all the amazing ways they help our ecosystem! This program includes a story and hands-on activity. This class is capped at 12 elementary aged students, and must be accompanied by an adult guardian.

Bird Hurdles

August 6th, 2024
10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Manito Park

Flying around, building nests, eating worms, birds have it so easy! Or...do they? Disruptions to their natural habitats are a serious threat to our feathery friends. See if you can survive a mini Manito Park obstacle course to come out on top, then learn how we can make things a little safer for our "egg"-cellent neighbors.
